At the King's Table - A Devotion of Love - Song of Songs

"While the King was at His table, my perfume spread its fragrance," (Songs 1:12). Hunger for Jesus draws me to sit at the King's table. It is only at the table of communion that my hunger for Jesus begins to be satisfied. Only when I spend precious time to sit at the King's table do I experience the heart of my Bridegroom King.

Here is a prayer journal devotional with Jesus. I sit with Him at the King's Table seeking His heart. As I seek His heart, He speaks back to me precious words of wisdom and direction. I pray you are blessed and encouraged to sit with Jesus and share in His precious, personal love for you.

JOURNAL ENTRY & PRAYER - Sitting at the King's table with Jesus.

I want Jesus. I want to know the heart of My Bridegroom. I long to share His thoughts, His longings, His hopes, His dreams. I am His betrothed. I am in His future. He is in mine. What does this look like? How do I cultivate an intimate, life empowering relationship with Jesus? My wonderful, beautiful Jesus. My Counseling Shepherd, my faithful friend, My conquering, glorious King! Oh I must, I must find Him – the one whom my soul loves!

Hunger draws me to sit at The King’s Table. It is only at this table of communion that my hunger for Jesus begins to be satisfied. Only when I spend precious time to sit at the Kings table, do I experience the heart of my Bridegroom King. I discover in wondrous amazement that God is in love with me. I have a perfume that spreads it’s glorious fragrance of trust before my Bridegroom King who is drawing, longing, caring, thinking, pondering, wooing, calling… me.

Oh My Jesus, beautiful Jesus, baptize me in Your Beauty. Immerse me in Your oil, Your fragrance. Live in me. Speak through me. Possess my being and look out of my eyes. Hug with my arms. Feed the poor through me. Destroy the works of darkness through me. Save through me. May I live, move and have my being through You? Only You?

Fill me with oil, Beloved. May I lay my head on Your shoulder and drink in Your fragrant oils? May I be saturated with Your dripping, fragrant perfume? May I be anointed with You? With Your essence? Your Beauty? Your Love? Your Purpose?

Birth in me Your heart’s desire Jesus. I desire encounter with You. I desire to be changed because I have been in Your presence. I want to walk this earth hidden in You. Wearing the sandals of My Shepherd. I want to be ‘electrified’ by Your lightening and have my senses heightened and one with You and Heaven’s purpose. May I be a Heaven Releaser upon this earth Jesus? Oh Beloved King, how we desperately need You! You are the answer. You are our Healer, our Savior, oh how we need You! Baptize my heart with Your Fire! Come Lord Jesus—fill me—fill your Bride—fill Your church—we desperately need You! We need encounter with Heaven! We need your strategies—Your power—Your love—Your forgiveness—Come Holy Bridegroom come and meet me at your glorious table…

UNION – “our work” – “us Jesus”

The union of the Bridegroom and the Bride; Jesus and me.

It isn’t “me” and it isn’t “you” it is “us”

Thinking this way “united” my thoughts, the union of me and you – together. Not me alone separate from Jesus who sits in the high heavens so far away from me.

I am here at ‘our’ tale I am here in our chambers how much closer can we be than for you to be inside of me (eat My body, drink My blood) You in me, and me seated with You, in You in the heavenly places.

Song 7:1 "How beautiful are your feet in sandals, O prince's daughter! " (NKJV).

Sandals – speak of the work of the shepherd; we partner with Jesus, our great Shepherd and there are sandals on our feet in the spirit.

Songs 1:16 “Our bed is green” NKJ “Our bed is in greenery” CJB “Our couch is luxuriant” NAS

The bed speaks of the rest and security of true intimacy with no fear of judgment or rejection from Jesus. Luxuriant – in greenery – speaks of abundance – plush – full of life! It is a rest in God that is flourishing and prospering instead of parched and barren.

“Our” speaks of being co-heirs; Rom. 8:17

“Our bed” speaks of the place where the two become one and life is brought forth – a new life, one that can only come forth when two become one

“Our” brings co-ownership and co-responsibility

THE PRIVATE PLACE:

Song 1:4 "Draw me after you and let us run together! The king has brought me into his chambers." NASB

The King has brought me into His chambers; chamber experiences are our private experiences with Jesus. Our secret history. The Bridal chamber of personal experience with the Lord; personal revelation; encounter and impartation.

THE PUBLIC PLACE:

Song 2:4-5 "He has brought me to his banquet hall, And his banner over me is love. He sustain me with raisin cakes, Refresh me with apples, Because I am lovesick. He brings me to the banquet hall the Feast which is the public place of celebration to crown me with the Banner of Love. The banquet hall is a picture of public identity. There are times He brings me “out” in public and reveals His love – His beautiful banner of acceptance and identity as His beloved Bride."

THE PROGRESSION OF MATURE LOVE

The three “Beloved” statements of the Bride reveal her journey

1) 2:16 “My Beloved is mine and I am His

2) 6:3 “I am my Beloved’s and He is mine

3) 7:10 “I am my Beloved’s and His desire is for me

THE FRAGRANCE OF “YOUR OILS…”

Song 4:10-11 "How beautiful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much better is your love than wine, And the fragrance of your oils Than all kinds of spices! "Your lips, my bride, drip honey; Honey and milk are under your tongue, And the fragrance of your garments is like the fragrance of Lebanon. NASB

Here the Bridegroom is affirming His pleasure over the Bride’s thoughts, words and deeds.

Rev 19 8-9 "And it was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. And he said to me, "Write, 'Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.'" NASB

“The fragrance of my oils” and “righteous acts” jumped out

My Question:

Journaling: “I feel Beloved that today you are drawing me to these issues; what are “my oils” and what are the righteous acts you deem worthy to clothe me in?”

The Lord’s Answer:

1) Trust when you don’t see. Trust when you don’t understand. Trust in My character. Trust in My leadership. Trust and obedience even in the cost of a request. I watch. I guard. I wait. I am careful in My leadership. I value the thoughts of My servants. I value their trust. I value the interaction with My people. Those who turn to Me and call upon Me and wait to hear what I have to say.

2) “Speaking My name when others will scoff and ridicule. Making a stand for what is right even when others will turn aside and follow no more.”

3) “Turning away from evil in all its forms when it is presented.”

4) “Hearing, trusting, obeying. This is not a blind obedience I seek. I seek the obedience of trust born from a relationship of love’s desire fulfilled. Trust in proven character – proven identity, proven love. Even when you know not the outcome of a choice, a decision, a journey, a crisis, you know who it is who is requesting and requiring your trust, your obedience, your action.

5) “Yes, action is required. Trust itself is action - it is not immobility that brings helplessness, but the action of love that releases the fragrance of obedience which is the fragrance of the Cross.

“The pain of obedience brings forth the sweet spice of devotion – devotion that even when tested to its limits, clings to the outcome of love’s desire fulfilled. What is required of thee oh man? Love Mercy, do justly, and walk humbly with your God. This child is the action that brings forth fragrance; each spice adds a nuance, a ‘flavor’ of fragrance, a bouquet of glory that soothes the ache of love in the heart of your Bridegroom.

(Love Unrequited) “Yes I allow Myself to experience the ache of love unrequited, love rejected, love despised. Therefore when love springs forth in a weary heart, worn by life’s travail and turns to Me and cries out for mercy, cries out for healing, cries out for love’s fulfillment it is oh so very precious to Me. A weary, fragile heart, allowing itself to beat again in hope, brings My heart rapturous joy. Oh what joy I experience when a heart beaten down by sin’s abuse turns to Me and asks Me to awaken it, heal it, open it to My presence, My touch, My life. I drop the dew of My life in such a heart I bring life and heal the broken, shattered heart.

THE WISE SIT AWHILE FOR OIL

6/28/06 Prayer vision of an Ancient Library

“I am opening to this generation the words and understanding of generations gone by. My faithful servants who walked and learned from Me, who wrote down the treasures I spoke to them, as they learned them. I am dusting off the books of old, and awakening this generation to take a hold of the wisdom of their forefathers, wisdom that has been recorded, and shelved, and chronicled, yet forgotten by this present generation Wisdom that was given to a former age, yeah, many ages, but was not understood to its fullest. Wisdom that came directly from My heart, the wisdom of obedience and discipleship, the obedience that goes to war when it is time to go to war.

All must learn to serve, all must learn to bow down, and all must learn My voice, I will speak in corporate words to bring alliance, faithfulness, equipping, direction and thrust into action.

The wisdom of the ancient is new to you. It is a walk that My servants walked with Me when there were no modern distractions. You walk, live and have your being filled in a land of distractions, temptations, and mind altering pictures, events, conversations, and situations. You too, need to come to the ancient library and sit with Me for instruction, I alone know the deep wisdom that is in these books for I am their author. Each book is a journey, a road, a truth, a testimony, a path that one of mine walked with me. Each is meant to instruct, to warn, to enlightened, even to brighten the way. Come to Me, and I will give rest to your soul.”

Jer. 6:16: "This is what the LORD says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls," (NIV).

Ps 24:7-8: "Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle," (NIV).

Ps 68:32-34: Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth, sing praise to the Lord, to him who rides the ancient skies above, who thunders with mighty voice. Proclaim the power of God, whose majesty is over Israel, whose power is in the skies," (NIV).

Isa 44 7-8: "Who then is like me? Let him proclaim it. Let him declare and lay out before me what has happened since I established my ancient people, and what is yet to come — yes, let him foretell what will come. Do not tremble, do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago? You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one," (NIV).

Isa 46:10-13: "I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say: My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please. From the east I summon a bird of prey; from a far-off land, a man to fulfill my purpose. What I have said, that will I bring about; what I have planned, that will I do. Listen to me, you stubborn-hearted, you who are far from righteousness. I am bringing my righteousness near, it is not far away; and my salvation will not be delayed. I will grant salvation to Zion, my splendor to Israel," (NIV).

“God is giving strategies today in dreams – strategies to reach the nations. Dreams are used to change history. Pray for encounters with God. Dreams can be encounters where we actually speak with the LORD.”

Julie’s Dream: Jesus was sitting at a table and in front of Him was a huge ancient book. The book was entitled: Secrets of The Ages. Jesus opened the book and Julie could see the pages turning and she could read the titles of the chapters – over and over she saw the words; “Come Sit Awhile.” One of the titles she saw was “Walking Down Ancient Paths.”

The King is Sitting at His Table Songs 1:12. “The wise sit a while for oil – oil is our own history in God. Julie heard Jesus say; ‘If you want to know the secret mysteries of the ages I will show you. I will share with you, but you MUST sit with Me.
